PASTOR GLEN'S BLOG
January 31, 2018
I pass a church building almost every day; and occasionally they have a sign up, which states, “REVIVAL . . . EVERY NIGHT at 7:30 p.m.” The fact of the matter is that we cannot plan for “revival”. God sends revival to a particular area in His timing and plan. Revival or awakening trace back to the biblical metaphors for the infusion of spiritual life in Christian experience by the Holy Spirit. Dr. Richard Lovelace suggests in his book, Dynamics of Spiritual Life, “Usually these are synonymously for broad scale movements of the Holy Spirit’s work in renewing spiritual vitality in the church and fostering its expansion in mission and evangelism.
Most great revivals and awakenings throughout history have included a variety of phases, which precede the powerful movement of God’s Spirit. Historically, most great revivals have been started by a group of people genuinely seeking God’s face in concerted prayer and fasting, becoming conscious of its sin, repenting of sin, and longing for a new outpouring of God’s grace.
As we move through this next phase of our life together, I want to challenge us to be such people . . . that seek God’s face in prayer and fasting, become conscious of our individual and corporate sin, repent of that sin, and have a longing for a new outpouring of God’s grace.
I also challenge us to be a people who are ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15). There are so many people in our own neighborhoods, work places, and social gatherings that do not know the Lord. So, I pray we will be a blessing wherever we are.
God is opening up doors for us to make a difference in the lives of people right here in Waynesboro and Augusta County. May we take advantage of opportunities as they present themselves, and continue to seek the Lord for revival in our area!!!
Advancing Native Missions
ANM has a new leadership team. Bo is now their "global ambassador". Oliver Asher is the new president, Dick Prins is the new CEO and George Ainsworth is the new COO. They would deeply appreciate prayers for the smooth adjustment to new leadership styles and unity throughout the staff.
ANM needs your prayers. The thousands of native missionaries whom we are privileged to serve need your prayers. It all begins with prayer. We invite you to become intercessors for the nations. May God bless you on that journey. To download the 31-day guide to praying for native missionaries please visit: https://advancingnativemissions.com/pray/
