PASTOR GLEN'S BLOG
November 17, 2017
We read in Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it!” It all comes from God and belongs to Him. We read in 1 Chronicles 29:16, “O Lord our God, as for all this abundance that we have provided for building you a temple for your Holy Name, it comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you.” The Apostle Paul wrote in I Corinthians 4:7, “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?”
What do you have that God didn’t give you? What do we have as a congregation that is not a gift from God? As we look at our lives we realize we didn’t create ourselves. God did that! Our lives were given to us by God. Our minds are a gift from God. Our abilities to think and plan and act all come from God. The talents, skills, gifts we have – all of them come from God! Everything we purchase and “own” comes as the result of all God has given us!
Everything we have comes from God and belongs to Him. Everything! So, if we accept this truth, we see that our giving to God is really an offering back of what already belongs to Him.
The Venue Team made a recommendation to the Session at our meeting this past Sunday to move forward with the exploration of the Briar Knoll/Ladd property in Fishersville as a potential Hope Community Church building site. The Session approved proceeding with the Venue Team’s recommendation. This will include enlisting an engineering firm to facilitate a feasibility and site analysis, checking out easements with the county and creating a building and parking lot configuration. There will be a financial cost to the church for this study; however, this will give us more complete information regarding the property before proceeding further.
The Session will be keeping us up-to-date with progress on this plan. Please keep all these matters in your prayers, as we recognize that everything we have and all that we are comes from God.
MISSIONS: Asaph & Lynn Din
Asaph & Lynn Din are currently serving the mission field in Lahore, Pakistan. They are grateful for our prayers and support! Currently they have a deficit in their WO account and need to raise an additional $3,000 per month in support. Please pray to that end. Weather in Pk has been horrible with thick fog/smog so pray also for a good rain storm to help clear the air. Keep the cricket clubs in your prayers as they begin to prepare for Christmas gatherings/parties, that the story of Jesus' birth will begin many conversations about our Savior's birth, life, death and resurrection. Please also pray for strength and good health for their parents (Wilson and Irshad Din & Richard and Jimmie Harms). Both sets of parents live in South Carolina. They each have had some medical problems this year. Pray for their daughters, Leah (11) and Emma (10) as they are homeschooled and as they interact with other kids in country. This will be the Din's 4th Christmas in Lahore.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
Children's Ministry –As we prepare for the coming new year, we ask that members prayerfully consider volunteering with our children's ministry in 2018. Let's be disciples and make disciples of the next generation in our church! Pair up with a spouse or friend and teach a class once a month or every other month. Your time with these children, eager to learn, will bless you as much as it does them! Please contact Kelly King at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you have questions or are available to help.
