PASTOR GLEN'S BLOG
November 7, 2018
The last two weeks have been challenging for our family. I know most of us have had our tough times; in fact, some of you are going through a tough time now!
As we read Joshua 1, we discover that Joshua had already seen the people’s response to Moses and the evidence that God was with Moses. However, the people often rebelled and spoke out against Moses, even to the point of desiring his death. Joshua needed to know, as he was about to take over the leadership reins of the Israelites, that God would be with him.
We too are like Joshua, we know the way is difficult. We know that life is not always easy. We know that sometimes we have opposition. We know that we have trouble; and we know that we will face hardships. What we need to remind ourselves often is that in our Christian walk, God promises to be with us.
God reassured Joshua twice; he told him in verse 5 of Joshua 1, and then again in verse 9, that He would be with him. And God promises to be with you and me in the midst of any challenge we face – in our personal lives and in our life together as the body of Christ. I often return to the reassuring words of the author of Hebrews, who reiterates this wonderful truth in Hebrews 13:5 . . . “God has said, ‘never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’” May we be reassured once again that God is with us no matter how hard the circumstances surrounding us may be.
