PASTOR GLEN'S BLOG
March 13, 2019
As I watch the news around our world, I become painfully aware of the what I would call “un-grace” all around us. Just today I read about a college admissions scam; one politician blasting another politician (nothing new!!); U.S. Taliban peace deal that would dishonor 9/11 victims, and the list goes on!! BUT, in a world full of un-grace, Jesus gives grace.
What a joy to know that Jesus gives us grace – unmerited, undeserved favor! When the Word became flesh, Christ (the eternal Logos) came to earth as a man. Jesus did not just appear like a man; he became one. Humanity was added to his deity. Christ did not stop being fully God, but He literally “took to himself” flesh (which means human nature – not sinfulness or weakness). That Jesus lived among us recalls God dwelling with Israel in the Old Testament within the Tabernacle.
As we see in John 1:16, the Word becoming flesh is the source of grace (charis) – which is the sum total of all the spiritual blessings God gives to people.
Do you want to experience the sum total of spiritual blessings in your life? As Christians, we have already received one blessing after another. We read in the Greek text in verse 16, charin anti charitos, literally grace in place of grace. This grace continues to come to Christians, just like waves continue to come to the shore. When an earthquake results in a tsunami, waves continue to come to the shore in an ongoing process. It is this same kind of ongoing process that we recall God continuing to shed His grace upon us as believers.
As we experience God pouring out His grace in this ongoing process, may we choose to share that same grace with the world around us – people who are hurting, struggling, and thirsting for genuine care – people living in the midst of un-grace? May we reach out to others, as God has reached out to us in the person and work of Christ and offer the same unconditional love and care – grace in place of grace to people around us?

We just received word that the IFL board approved the printing of the biblical creation curriculum (high school) that I wrote and was based upon a 2013 bible study. If things go as expected, the curriculum (4 quarter, 60 lesson, 225 page document) goes to an initial print of 1000 copies in a couple weeks. We just returned from a combined retreat for three grades (6, 10, 12 -- about 50 children) where we were able to minister several times. Coordination with MGC New Life (a Metro Manila Christian School) continues for special conference July 8-12, where we are the teacher/trainers for 100 or so teachers/pastors administrators. Needs will increase, and a few people have asked about them. I will update the cwm4him.org site with a description of those. You are welcome to ask questions, visit with us (in the US or PI with some coordination), pray for us, or support our efforts if you wish. We aim to serve.
