PASTOR GLEN'S BLOG
September 19, 2018

In the early church, corporate prayer was the standard.  We read in Acts 5:42, church members met day after day, in the Temple courts and from house to house.  The Bible repeatedly gives accounts of the power of prayer.

Moses prayed and God spared Israel from judgment; Joshua prayed and God caused the sun to stand still; Hannah prayed and God gave her a baby boy; Solomon prayed and God gave him wisdom; Elijah prayed and God sent fire down from Heaven; Jonah prayed and God brought him out of the belly of the great fish; the thief on the cross prayed and God gave him eternal life.  There is incredible power in prayer!

This past Sunday I asked the question: “Are we expecting revival to break out in Waynesboro, Augusta County, and beyond?”  I then suggested that we pray for God to send revival to our area . . . and beyond.  As the psalmist prayed, “Restore us, O God, let your face shine!” (Psalm 80:3)   May that revival start with you and me!!

Friends, I want to challenge us to put these kinds of prayers into action.  Cliff & Lynn Scott have graciously agreed to open their home (741 Rosser Avenue) for prayer meetings.  The first prayer meeting will be Wednesday, October 3rd, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  As a start, the meetings will be once a month (every first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.)  Regardless of your ability to attend this first meeting, PLEASE join me in praying for God to send revival to our community . . . and beyond!!

“if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

MISSIONS:

Heather & Ramsey Persing (CRU)

I'm sure many have been wondering how surgery went and how I'm doing. I also know many have been praying for me so I wanted to send you a quick update on that. Surgery last Wednesday went well. I stayed one night in the hospital and was able to leave the next afternoon. The doc did repair both my ACL and PCL which meant 2 holes drilled in my knee instead of 1. Pain has gone down quite a bit, but I won't be able to bear weight on that leg and I'll be in a straight leg brace for the next 3 weeks. We've been blessed to have family come help Heather take care of the kids (and me =)) while I recover. Things on campus are still going great without me, but I hope to return soon. You can be praying for our Fall Retreat coming up Oct 12-14. We're in big promotion time getting people to sign up. It's a key time for many freshman to connect with others in the ministry and God so pray for many to sign up! In Christ, Ramsey Persing
